The Los Angeles Dodgers and future Hall of Fame first baseman Albert Pujols are in agreement on a major league contract, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

The deal, first reported by the Los Angeles Times, isn't expected to become official until Monday, a source said.

Albert Pujols was released by the Los Angeles Angels after clearing waivers on Thursday.

The Angels designated Pujols for assignment last week.

Pujols can sign with any club. The Angels remain responsible for his $30 million salary in the final season of a $240 million, 10-year contract.

The Atlanta Braves have signed Shane Greene to a one-year, $1.5 million deal.

The contract includes a prorated salary. Greene missed the first 38 days of the season, so he will receive about $1.19 million.

Greene agreed to be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett, and he will need time to get ready before pitching in the Major Leagues. The right-hander went 1-0 with a 2.60 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings last season.

Pedro Strop has elected for free agency after spending most of this season at the Chicago Cubs' alternate site.

Strop, 35, appeared in two games with the Cubs, giving up two hits while striking out three.

He signed a Minor League deal with the Cubs this past offseason.
